Date: Sat 21 May 2016

Day 1 baby bonding - LUTON
- This introductory day is for those practitioners who wish to explore extending their work and knowledge to playful therapeutic interventions with young babies and their parents/carers. It showcases a very gentle and safe therapeutic method based on parental loving touch, authentic movement, baby observation, informal lullaby and music, all of which are used specifically to improve the quality of the early parent/carer-infant attachment relationship. All of this is set within the very new and groundbreaking research into what we now know about how parents change and how secure attachment is operationalised in the earliest relationship.
Welcome and overview of the day
Turning attachment theory into practice: how does this gentle therapeutic approach work? Why is it so helpful?
Skills 1: Using gentle touch, baby observation, creative voice and movement and calming relaxation
Skills 2: Practitioner skills for reflective feedback to parents and facilitation of therapeutic change
Full demonstration and experience of a 45 minute therapeutic session
Upon completion a certificate of attendance is awarded (6 hours CPD). Those wishing to attain license to practice will need to attend a second day which focuses on the skills and resources needed to set up small groups for parents and bumps/babies. This course raises much-needed funds for our Parent-Baby capacity-building projects around the globe.
